How do I book?

You can book online through our website or give us a call on 07961719996. A £100 deposit will secure your booking and your balance is due 8 weeks before you stay.

Is Sherwood House dog friendly?

Yes we are more than happy for dogs to stay at Sherwood House. We do kindly ask that they stay off the sofas and out of the bedrooms as we know how wet they can get on the beach! There’s an additional charge of £25 for dogs, which goes towards the cleaning fee, and you can add this when booking.

Robin Hood’s Bay beach is dog-friendly all year round and the Cinder Track is perfect for dog walks when it is sunny. We do ask that you don't leave your dog alone in the cottage. However, nearly everywhere in Robin Hood's Bay is dog friendly so your dog can come with you.

Does Sherwood House have parking?

Yes, Sherwood House has a parking permit for the two council car parks in Robin Hood's Bay (Not Fisherhead). Just collect the parking permit from the cottage and display it in your car window. You’re welcome to drive down to near the cottage to unload before parking. We also have parking disks for Whitby and Scarborough, which let you park for free in certain disk zones.

Do you provide linen and towels?

Yes, linen and towels are provided. Your beds will be made up on arrival for your group size, so you can just turn up and relax. Please bring your own towels for the beach.

Is Sherwood House family friendly?

Sherwood is family-friendly and has plenty of space for a cot. We have a high chair and travel cot (please bring your own bedding) that you are welcome to use. There are plastic plates, cups and cutlery in the kitchen. Plus plenty of books and board games. There are plenty of child-friendly activities right on our doorstep: fossil hunting and rock pooling on the beach, exploring the dinosaur and village museum, and lots of ice cream.

Can I book a supermarket delivery to Sherwood House?

Ideally not, because the van is unable to park outside. However, Muir Lea Stores and Baytown Stores are just a couple of minutes’ walk from the cottage and they have most things that you need. It would be great if you could support the local village shops as we would be lost without them. Both Aldi and Sainsbury’s are conveniently located about 10 minutes away, just before you reach Whitby.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is available from 3:00pm, and check-out is by 10:00am to allow us to clean and prepare the cottage for our next guests. However, if the cottage is ready earlier than 3pm we will drop you an email to let you know you can check in earlier.

If you're checking out on a Sunday, you have the option of a late check-out at 5:00pm, so you can enjoy a bit more time in the Bay. There is a £25 charge for the late check-out, but this does give you almost an extra day.

Is there a log fire in Sherwood House?

Yes, Sherwood House has a log burner in the lounge so in the winter months you can snuggle up by the fire after a windswept walk on the beach.

We provide a winter log pack so you have enough logs to get started, and if you need more, Muir Lea Stores in the lower Bay has plenty available. Similarly Baytown Stores at the top of the Bay is also well stocked. The chimney is swept annually and a guide on how to use the fire is in our guest book.

Is the cottage accessible for those with mobility issues?

Due to the historic nature of the cottage and its location in the heart of the village, there are steps and uneven surfaces that may not be ideal for those with limited mobility. If you have any accessibility questions please give us a call.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes, we provide free Wi-Fi, so you can stay connected during your stay. Superfast broadband has not reached the older lower bay, but it is fine for general use.

Do you have an iron and hair dryer?

Yes, we have an iron and ironing board in Sherwood House. There are two hairdryers one in each of the king size bedrooms. All electrical items are PAT tested annually.

Do you have central heating?

Yes, it was our first job when we purchased Sherwood House. You will be warm and cosy during your stay.

We hope you have a great stay and if you need to know anything else please just ask.

See you by the sea
