Why We Fell in Love with Robin Hood’s Bay
We’re Sian and Matt, and we’re delighted to share our two family-run holiday homes in Robin Hood’s Bay: Dock Cottage and Sherwood House.
Our love for Robin Hood’s Bay began over 25 years ago, when we first visited as a young couple. It was October, and we still remember sitting in The Bay Hotel, watching the waves crash against the sea wall, there was something truly magical about it.
From that moment on, we were hooked and it became our favourite time of year, watching the sea roar, sitting by a log fire with a glass of wine.
Year after year, we found ourselves drawn back. Returning first with friends, then with our children. Then in the summers, our daughters worked in the Bay, further strengthening our tie to the Bay. So much so that we made the decision to move to Robin Hood's Bay.

Welcome to Stay in Bay
When Dock Cottage came up for sale in 2024, after 70 years, we knew it was the one. Sitting right on the Dock with sweeping sea views, it’s a truly iconic spot. There’s something very special about falling asleep to the sound of the sea and waking up to the sunrise.
More recently, we welcomed Sherwood House to the family, a slightly larger space, perfect for sharing with family and friends, while still enjoying everything the Bay has to offer. With two cottages we needed a name so Stay in Bay was born in 2026.
We both love being outdoors, and from both cottages you can join the Cleveland Way or wander along the beach. Our favourite walk is the cliff-top route to Whitby, though a shorter stroll to Boggle Hole is just as lovely.
We feel incredibly lucky to spend time here, and we’re so pleased to be able to share it with others. If you spot us on the beach with our dogs, do say hello, we’re always up for a chat.
